EU rushes to respond to non-existant threats

David Frum pointed out several days ago that people have been aweful swift to rush to the barricades to fight a long vanguished evil and wished they were half as feverent when it came to dealing with a real threat.

Obviously Prince Harry did something stupid, however, the EU's response is to propose a ban on Nazi symbols. Apparantly the irony in this scenario of responding to something which offends you by trying to eliminate it completely is lost upon European politicians.

I can only wish that they would take the threat of regressive radical Islam with its facist overtones as serious as they take reference to a fascist enemy long since defeated. I'm personally far more worried about the enemy alive and kicking than any offense that may be taken to reference to one from yester year.
